Small Group Tutoring
Why do students need tutoring?
Unfortunately, many students struggle to develop essential skills in Maths. Research suggests that around 20% of students require additional support to master foundational numeracy skills.
What is small-group tutoring?
Small-group tutoring involves a small student-to-teacher ratio, mimicking the classroom dynamic but on a smaller scale. This setup allows for personalized attention, independent learning, and a tailored learning program.
What are the benefits of small-group tutoring?
Small-group tutoring offers:
- A personalized learning experience with increased attention and customized learning programs
- One-on-one support to achieve learning goals, combined with independent work to build confidence
- Close monitoring of progress, constructive feedback, and identification of areas for improvement
- A group setting that fosters confidence, belonging, and active participation
How does Math Whizzards small-group tutoring work?
The process begins with a free 30-45 minute ability pre-assessment with an experienced tutor to identify strengths, learning gaps, and the correct starting level. Weekly tutoring sessions run in small groups of up to four for approximately 60 minutes.
Sessions are engaging, fun, and include a mix of activities, one-on-one time, and feedback. Independent learning is also incorporated to build confidence and self-esteem.
Goals and time frames are set, and parents receive progress updates.
